Miami-Dade County authorities arrested Cuban-American artist Gemeny Hernandez, 31, for alleged robbery with violence and misdemeanor assault in a case involving her partner of eight years, Emily Estefan, singer and daughter of celebrities Gloria and Emilio Estefan.
The arrest occurred on Tuesday, October 28 in Miami, after the alleged victim’s complaint detailed an altercation over a cell phone.

According to the affidavit obtained by EFE, Gemeny Hernandez snatched the cell phone from Emily Estefan’s hand and hit her with it.
The report indicates that the two struggled on the ground until Emily Estefan managed to hide the device under her body and called 911.
As a result of the incident, Gloria and Emilio Estefan’s daughter suffered “a contusion in her left eye and scratches on her right neck”.
Gemeny Hernández denied having directly taken the phone from her, although she admitted the physical confrontation.
Emily’s girlfriend was arrested by Miami-Dade County Police Department officers and booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Facility.
He then posted a $3,000 bail to be released.
