On April 23, 2025, Mexican motorsports lost one of its most beloved fans: Fabbio, the little dog that for years won the affection of thousands of Sergio “Checo” Perez’s fans. At 16 years of age, Fabbio crossed his last finish line, leaving an indelible mark in the hearts of those who accompanied him on his unique journey.

Known on social networks as @fabbio_f1, Fabbio became a symbol of passion, loyalty and love for motorsport. Aboard a small Red Bull replica single-seater, it was common to see him on Sunday rides along Paseo de la Reforma in Mexico City, always accompanied by his owner, Jorge Alvarado Rayón. Although he was never able to physically attend the Mexican Grand Prix, his image -either in cardboard or in spirit- was present at every race, cheering Checo on like the most unconditional fan.

Fabbio’s story reached Checo Perez’s family.

Antonio Perez, brother of the driver from Guadalajara, expressed his gratitude and empathy through a message on Fabbio’s official account:

“Thank you for instilling love for my brother…we are doggies and I know what it’s like to lose a little life companion.”

More than a mascot, Fabbio represented the values that make sport great:

Passion, commitment and an unconditional love that broke barriers between humans and animals.

His legacy will continue to inspire those who see motor racing not just as a competition, but as a source of unity and hope.
