News anchor Angelynn Mock, known for her work on FOX 2 St. Louis morning news, was arrested and charged with murdering her mother, Anita Avers, 80, inside the home they shared in Wichita, Kansas.
The case has shocked the local community and those who once followed her on television.

According to the Sedgwick County Police Department, officers responded to an emergency call placed by Angelynn Mock herself on October 31 around 8:00 a.m., reporting a stabbing attack inside her residence.
When the officers arrived, they found the communicator outside the house, visibly altered and with injuries to her hands.
Inside, they located his mother, Anita Avers, unconscious on her bed, with multiple stab wounds.
She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead minutes later.
Angelynn Mock was briefly treated by medical personnel and subsequently arrested on charges of first-degree murder.
She is currently being held in the county jail on $1 million bail pending further investigation.

According to local media reports such as People and ABC Kake, 911 operators received initial information that “the caller stabbed her mother to save herself,” which could suggest an allegation of self-defense.
A witness identified as Alyssa Castro recounted seeing Angelynn Mock approach her vehicle “with her body and hands full of blood” as she desperately called for help.
“He seemed in shock; he just said his mom was hurt and needed an ambulance,” she recounted.
A television career that ended in tragedy
Angelynn Mock, also known as Angie Mock, was a visible figure on local American television for more than a decade.
From 2011 to 2015, she anchored FOX 2 News in the Morning in St. Louis, Missouri, and previously worked at KOKH FOX 25 in Oklahoma City.
In recent years he had moved away from television to the private sector, working for a data management software company, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Sedgwick County authorities have not yet disclosed a motive for the crime.
Detectives continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses to determine if there was a prior history of domestic violence or mental health issues.
