The Cuban duo Gente de Zona released this Thursday the song ‘Se le pasa’, the first preview of their next musical production, which reflects an explosion of tropical rhythms characteristic of this duo of artists who are celebrating 25 years of career.

“It is a fusion of merengue with Afro and Cuban comparsa, inspired by the Santiago conga. It is a return to our essence, but with the maturity of today,” said Randy Malcom, one of the two founders of the musical duo, in a statement shared with EFE.

This song is the cover of the multiplatinum duo’s upcoming album, which will be loaded with collaborations with other renowned artists.

In ‘Se le pasa’, the creators of songs such as ‘La Gozadera’ or ‘Traidora’ “portray in a fun way the dynamics of couples” while an infectious melody “designed to dominate the charts” plays in the background, according to the press release.

“It is one of the themes we wanted to raise in this album. The idea was to reflect, from a funny angle, those situations that men go through when they get into trouble at night and then don’t know how to justify themselves to their partner,” said Alexander Delgado, the other member of the group.

“When we mention things like Chanel or hotels, we’re not looking for women to feel like we’re trying to ‘buy’ them, but to see it from a fun side, understanding that it won’t be so easy to forgive,” she added.

The song is accompanied by a music video that will premiere at 20:00 US Eastern Time (midnight GMT) on Gente de Zona’s YouTube channel.

The Cuban duo will begin its first tour of Spain on June 25 in Madrid, where it plans to visit the stages of eleven different cities until August 5, when it concludes in Marbella (Andalusia).

It is the first tour of Spain for Gente de Zona, reported Agencia EFE, a group that has won six Latin Grammy Awards and twelve Latin Billboard Awards, among other accolades.
