The PGA Tour will return next year to Trump National Doral, the golf club owned by the U.S. president in Miami-Dade County, after nearly a decade in which the circuit disassociated itself from Donald Trump’s courses, coinciding with his arrival at the White House in 2017.

The premier U.S. men’s professional golf circuit released Tuesday the schedule for the upcoming season, which includes a tournament at Trump National Doral in Miami from April 27 to May 3.

In addition, it will receive the category of ‘Exclusive Event’, which implies a larger prize purse -of 20 million dollars- and the participation of the best players in the ranking.

This golf club, located in Miami, left the PGA Tour calendar in 2016, coinciding with the first presidential campaign of the then Republican candidate.

However, its courses continued to host tournaments of the Saudi Arabian-funded golf circuit LIV Golf, the main rival of the PGA at present due to the large economic incentives it offers, and whose last two editions were won by the Spaniard Jon Rahm.

Trump and top PGA officials have held meetings in recent years, and the current White House tenant claimed during the last election campaign that he was capable of closing a deal between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf.

The Trump Organization also announced Tuesday on social networks the return of the PGA to the Miami club, specifically the Blue Monster course, which it described as “one of the most famous and challenging golf courses,” EFE reported.
