A U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agent was charged with sexually assaulting and robbing several women in suburban Chicago, Illinois, the Department of Justice (DOJ) reported.

Luis Uribe, 44, faces ten counts of deprivation of civil rights and one count of carrying a firearm during a violent felony.

Immigration Agent Luis Uribe Arrested

The former agent was arrested on Tuesday, December 9, and pleaded not guilty during his arraignment in federal court, the DOJ said in a statement.

Luis Uribe worked for CBP in the Chicago area and was authorized to carry a firearm and make arrests, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

The officer is accused of sexually assaulting and robbing two women in two Chicago suburbs in 2022.

Luis Uribe carried a firearm in at least one of the sexual assaults, according to court documents.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office also alleges that Luis Uribe attempted to sexually assault two other women, apparently sex workers in the area.

If convicted, Uribe faces a mandatory minimum sentence of seven years in federal prison and a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

Last July, CBP Officer Isaiah Anthony Hodgson, 29, was charged with three felonies for resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer.

This after he was denounced for entering the women’s restroom at a restaurant in Los Angeles when he was off duty, but carrying his service weapon.

Hodgson, who was caught on video making violent arrests as part of immigration raids in Los Angeles, died a month later of an overdose.

Border Patrol agents have been in the public spotlight after spearheading the escalation of President Donald Trump’s administration’s mass deportation campaign.
