The excitement over the Los Angeles Dodgers’ historic two-time championship was marred on Tuesday, November 4, by an operation that set off alarm bells in the immigrant community.
Dozens of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents were spotted around Dodger Stadium, just one day after the massive celebration of the two-time World Series champion.

According to reports from the Los Angeles Times and testimonies from residents, close to a hundred officers – some wearing green tactical vests and carrying plastic arrest bridles – were deployed early in the morning in several of the parking lots of the stadium, located in the Elysian Park neighborhood in the heart of Los Angeles.
Witnesses reported that several of the vehicles were not identified as official patrol cars, which generated confusion and fear among those who were still in the area after the celebrations.
According to the sources cited, the group included personnel from ICE, CBP and a special tactical rapid response unit.
The operation concluded shortly before 10:00 a.m., with no arrests reported.

The presence of the agents caused concern on social networks, especially among the Latino community, which represents a large part of the Los Angeles team’s fan base.
Videos posted by users showed agents walking through the parking lot wearing tactical equipment, which quickly went viral.
Hours later, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued a statement clarifying that the presence of the agents was not part of a raid or an immigration operation, but “a routine inspection coordinated with local authorities”.
However, the lack of clarity in the communication generated criticism from community leaders and pro-immigrant activists, who demanded greater transparency.
An episode that revives tensions with the Latino community
This is not the first time Dodger Stadium has been embroiled in a similar controversy.
Last June, ICE was spotted conducting an operation in a parking lot of the complex, which sparked outrage among civil organizations and the local community.
On that occasion, the team denied having authorized the agents’ access to its facilities and assured that it “does not cooperate with immigration operations”.
In the wake of that controversy, the Dodgers announced a $1 million donation to support organizations working with immigrant families in the greater Los Angeles area.
However, this new episode reopens wounds and calls into question the club’s relationship with the Latino community that has historically supported it.
Reactions and call for calm
Although no arrests were reported, several immigrant rights organizations expressed concern about the symbolism of the operation, which took place just after a public celebration attended by thousands of Hispanics.
“At a time when the city celebrates unity, these types of displays generate unnecessary fear,” stated Maricela Morales, director of Latino Advocacy LA.
The mayor of Los Angeles has yet to comment on the incident, while the team’s office reiterated that “it was not an operation inside the stadium or in coordination with the organization.”
The event occurs amid a climate of growing immigration tension in California, where federal operations have intensified since the summer of 2025 under new directives from the Donald Trump administration.
