Venezuelan influencer Pedro Luis João Figueira Álvarez, better known as La Divaza, is going through one of the most painful moments of his life after the death of his mother, Kenya Álvarez, at the age of 57, due to complications derived from an aggressive breast cancer.
Kenya Alvarez was diagnosed in December 2023 with special squamous metaplastic breast cancer, a rare and aggressive form of the disease.
A tireless fight against cancer
Despite undergoing chemotherapy, radiotherapy and a mastectomy, the cancer progressed rapidly, developing metastases and severely affecting her health.
Lacking access to adequate treatment in Mexico, where they lived, La Divaza and her mother moved to Lisbon, Portugal, in March 2025.
The decision was based on the fact that Kenya had Portuguese citizenship, which allowed them access to the local healthcare system.
“Ay, I don’t even know what to say, I have like a lump in my throat: My mommy just went to heaven. Her last words were an ‘I love you’ to her two children,” commented a heartbroken ‘La Divaza’ in a video on Instagram.
The last goodbye
Despite medical efforts in Portugal, Kenya’s health continued to deteriorate.
In April, he expressed his desire to return to Venezuela to be near his family.
La Divaza, due to legal restrictions, was unable to accompany her or enter her country to say goodbye.
On May 2, 2025, Kenya died in Caracas from an infection that his weakened body was unable to fight.
In an emotional video shared on her social networks, La Divaza expressed her pain and recalled the last hug she gave her mother in the hospital in Lisbon before her departure.
