While Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes provided the bullets, Rosalinda Gonzalez Valencia provided the cash. Discover how the matriarch of the “Los Cuinis” clan turned a criminal cell into a multi-million dollar business consortium.

In the world of drug trafficking, male names tend to grab the headlines, but in the structure of the Jalisco Cartel – New Generation (CJNG), the name Rosalinda Gonzalez Valencia weighs as much or more than that of “Mencho” himself. Known as “La Jefa,” Rosalinda is the linchpin that links military power with financial intelligence.

The “Los Cuinis” Clan: A family of gold

Rosalinda did not come to the world of crime by chance.

She is part of the González Valencia family, a large family known as “Los Cuinis”.

Originally part of the Milenio Cartel, this group specialized in something few capos understood decades ago: white-collar money laundering.

When Rosalinda married Nemesio Oseguera, they not only joined their lives; they joined two forces.

She provided the economic support of her family, allowing the CJNG to have unlimited resources to buy weapons and corrupt authorities from the beginning.

More than a wife: The Financial Operator

Unlike other capo couples who only enjoy luxury, “La Jefa” always played an active role, according to El Heraldo de Mexico.

According to authorities, she was in charge of overseeing money laundering networks that included:

Luxury real estate in Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta.

Shopping malls and consulting firms.

Tequila brands and export products.

Captures and the challenge to the State

Rosalinda’s importance is such that every time she has been captured, the organization has reacted violently.

2018: She was arrested in Zapopan, but was released after paying a millionaire bail.

2021: She was captured again in an operation that included special forces. Only hours later, the kidnapping of two marines in Jalisco was reported, presumably in retaliation for her arrest.

The end of an era

Today, with Rosalinda in prison and the confirmation of the death of “Mencho,” the Gonzalez Valencia clan faces its biggest challenge.

“La Jefa” remains a respected figure within the cartel, and many analysts suggest that, even from jail, her influence is vital to maintaining the cohesion of what remains of the CJNG leadership.

Without it, the CJNG would not have gone beyond being a regional guerrilla group; with it, it became a global empire that today, after the death of its leader, struggles not to fragment.
