The MLS All-Star Skills Challenge is a competition prior to the MLS All-Star Game and Liga MX, where players demonstrate their skills in five key tests: 1. Shot on goal 2. Ball control (“touch”) 3. Crossing and volleying 4. Accurate passing and 5. Shot to the crossbar.
For 2025, this event will be held on July 22 at Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas, as a prelude to the big game on July 23.

The Skills Challenge is a competition of individual skill and precision, where each challenge adds points to the team.
In 2024, Liga MX dominated in almost every category, winning three of the five challenges.
Now, the Mexican team arrives with a reinforced squad to seek a new victory against MLS.
The MLS team has also added renowned figures such as Diego Luna and Denis Bouanga, as well as legends such as Clint Dempsey and Lindsey Horan.
For U.S. Hispanics, the Skills Challenge represents a celebration of Latino talent, where Liga MX takes on its historic MLS rivals on equal footing.
It also serves to promote the tournament in a growing soccer market and to strengthen the following of Mexican teams and players from the Hispanic community.
