The American singer Madonna has covered the classic “La bambola” (1968) by Patty Pravo for a campaign of the fashion brand Dolce & Gabbana, in a performance in which she shows her vocal skills in Italian to the sound of the famous “Tu mi fai girar, come fossi una bambola”.

Madonna, who generated a lot of buzz in September when she announced a new album for 2026 after seven years since the last one, has made her first musical appearance of the year with a song that will be the cover of the new Dolce & Gabbana perfume campaign – The One.

The artist has published the song, without video, on Youtube and streaming platforms such as Spotify, although she has not shared or announced it on her social networks yet.

The Italian firm, however, has published on Wednesday afternoon a promotional video that already exceeds one million reproductions in which the singer appears and an excerpt of the performance, accompanied by the text: “Magnetic Aura. Get closer. The new #DGTheOne campaign is coming soon.”

According to Italian media, the version, produced by Stuart Price, does not seem to be part of Madonna’s new musical project, which returns to work with Warner in what will be a return to her beginnings.

Written by Franco Migliacci, Ruggero Cini and Bruno Zambrini, and performed by Patty Pravo, ‘La Bambola’ is a song published in 1968 that narrates the grievances of a woman towards a man who treats her like a doll that he abandons when she is no longer useful.

It was a big hit in Italy and reached the top of the charts for six consecutive weeks, and has been used in several films, such as ‘The American’ (‘El americano’, 2010) by Anton Corbjin or ‘Romanzo criminale’ (‘Roma Criminal’, 2005), by Michele Placido, and has been covered by many artists, such as Sergio Dalma.

“Tu mi mi fai girar, come fossi una bambola. Poi mi butti giù, come fossi una bambola” (You make me spin like a doll. Then you throw me, as if I were a doll), the song goes.
