Astros 5-4 Rangers
Venezuela’s José Altuve hit a two-run homer and the Dominican Republic’s Jeremy Peña homered and scored twice to back Cristian Javier (2-3), who completed six two-hit innings for the Astros to beat the Rangers.
Puerto Rico’s Carlos Correa scored two runs and Dominican Yainer Diaz pushed in two runs for the Astros.
Mexico’s Alejandro Osuna scored a run for the Rangers.
Diamondbacks 1-5 Giants
Dominicans Jerar Encarnacion and Rafael Devers each drove in a run to cap a five-run rally in the tenth inning as the Giants defeated the Diamondbacks.
Justin Verlander pitched seven scoreless innings, but the victory went to Joel Peguero (3-0), who pitched two scoreless episodes.
The Diamondbacks, who got a run-scoring outing from Geraldo Perdomo, wasted a nine-inning, seven-strikeout performance from Brandon Pfaadt.
Pirates 4-8 Cubs
Ian Happ homered and drove in three runs and Venezuela’s Moisés Ballesteros also knocked the ball out of the park for the Cubs to complete the sweep in their three-game series against the Pirates and secure their presence in the MLB postseason.
The Cubs joined the Brewers and Phillies as the teams that have clinched their playoff berths.
Joey Bart hit a three-run homer to lead the Pirates, who got five innings of four-run ball from Cuban Johan Oviedo.
Nationals 4-8 Braves
Dominican Republic’s Marcell Ozuna produced three runs and Matt Olson hit a home run and scored twice as the Braves subdued the Nationals.
Venezuela’s Ronald Acuña scored twice and Curacao’s Jurickson Profar once for the Braves.
Dominican Luis García Jr. had a run scored for the Nationals.
Cardinals 2-6 Reds
Spencer Steer pushed in five runs and led the Reds’ offense in their win over the Cardinals.
Elly de la Cruz and Santiago Espinal stepped on the plate once for the Reds.
Alec Burleson homered for the Cardinals, EFE reported.
