Matias Almeyda, the new coach of Monterrey, said on Monday that the Mexican league is underrated, but for him it is one of the most competitive in the world.

“For me, Mexican soccer means a lot, I wanted to return after traveling around the world because here you have a league that many minimize, but for me, it is one of the best there is. It is a highly competitive championship, that is why I decided to return to try to win again,” said the coach in his presentation.

“I follow the Mexican league, I like the Mexican players, I like their technique and I am sure that I will bring players here to show that they have the quality and the desire to succeed”.

“It’s the same thing I’ve thought since the first time I led in this country,” he explained.

“I like challenges and I’m not one to make excuses.”

“Promising is not within my way of being, that’s why I say I must first build the foundation.”

“Monterrey is a castle in Mexican soccer that has had some brilliant moments, but lately it has not been getting results.

“It is in reconstruction and that will take time, time that we will try to keep short to win quickly, but there is no magic,” he said.

“There is a project here that is going to be put together little by little.”

“It’s up to us to make Monterrey a winning team again that our fans can be proud of, but I’m not a magician.”

“I am a coach who believes in teamwork,” the coach reiterated.
