Argentinean-born actress Camila Morrone is celebrating the premiere of the second season of The Night Manager, a production in which she plays an ambitious Colombian woman involved in an arms trafficking network. In an interview with Glamour, the magazine that has her on its cover this month, the actress confessed that one of the biggest surprises of the project was speaking much more Spanish than she expected during filming. She also expressed her gratitude for being able to play a Latina character, something that is not always easy for her in Hollywood because, according to the industry, she does not fit the “look” traditionally associated with Latina actresses.

Morrone grew up immersed in the artistic environment. The daughter of Argentine actors Lucila and Maximo Morrone, she recalls that after school she used to accompany them to auditions in Los Angeles. While they went in for castings, she would intently observe the other actors, their portfolios and the dynamics of the industry. That early closeness meant that becoming an actress never seemed like an unattainable dream.

However, she also learned about the less glamorous side of the profession. Camila explains that only a small minority achieves stability and recognition, while the majority face constant rejection. Seeing the limitations her parents had because of their strong accent marked her perception of the environment and encouraged her to value the advantage of having grown up between two cultures.

Despite his success, Morrone acknowledges that he has often had to justify his origins. Her parents were born and raised in Argentina, and much of her family still lives there. “I’ve been embarrassed to have to prove that I’m Latina because they don’t think I have that ‘look,'” she says. For her, expanding the idea of what a Latina actress represents is part of her professional mission, as are other performers with similar stories.

The Night Manager represents a key point in that journey. It is the first time that Camila speaks extensively in Spanish in a project and, in addition, she had to adapt her Argentinean accent to Colombian. The shooting, which took place in cities such as Barcelona and Tenerife, was marked by a multicultural mix of accents and acting styles that enriched the experience.

The actress defines the series as a high-level production, comparable to a television version of the James Bond universe, which made the work even more demanding.

Discipline, travel and professional growth

Prior to this project, her participation in Daisy Jones and the Six meant an important commercial leap. Her previous experience as a model, traveling alone from a very young age, strengthened her discipline and adaptability. Today, her schedule takes her from one country to another, linking recordings in Europe and America.

At 28 years old, Camila is clear that she wants to dedicate the next few years to exploring different genres, languages and styles, learning from established colleagues without losing her authenticity.

Beyond professional success, Morrone reflects on the importance of finding emotional stability within an itinerant routine. In his short breaks, his priority is to reconnect with the simple: return to New York, enjoy the food, rest and recharge before returning to the fast pace of international shoots.
