After more than two decades marking the course of Latin American alternative rock as a fundamental part of Café Tacvba, musician, producer and composer Meme Del Real presents his first solo album in 2025: La Montaña Encendida. This work represents a new chapter in his career, marked by introspection, creative exploration and a profound dialogue with nature and human emotions.
The project was born after an important personal turning point: the artist decided to leave Mexico City behind to move to Valle de Bravo, a place surrounded by forests, water and silence. That change of environment was the trigger for a period of reflection that led him to revisit old ideas, forgotten demos and sounds stored in time. The result is an album that fuses progressive rock, electronica, bolero, bachata and traditional Latin American music, all with the sonic sophistication that characterizes Meme Del Real.
An album made from the soul

La Montaña Encendida was recorded between Mexico and Los Angeles, with the participation of multi-award winning producer Gustavo Santaolalla.
He encouraged Meme Del Real to take on the role of lead vocalist for the first time.
The process was, in the musician’s own words, “intimate and almost artisanal”.
Made in his studio in the countryside and guided by the desire to capture the essence of the moment he is living.
The album consists of 13 tracks that reflect different facets of the artist and his emotional universe. Highlights:
“Princesa”, which mixes seventies ballads with symphonic arrangements.
“Embeces”, where electronica merges with norteño music.
“Tumbos”, an innovative foray into bachata with electronic dyes.
“Incomprehensible”, a psychedelic bolero loaded with mysticism.
The introspection that runs through the album is especially reflected in “Mira”, the lead single, produced with Santaolalla.
The song combines alternative Latin rhythms with a melancholic and luminous atmosphere.
While its official video -directed by Pepe Guevara- offers a poetic tour of Mexico City through the eyes of a symbolic character.
A portrait of love, memory and time

For Meme Del Real, La Montaña Encendida is more than an album: it is a kind of emotional x-ray.
Each song explores universal themes such as love, memory, connection to nature and the passage of time, offering the listener an introspective and deeply human experience.
“This album is a reflection of my body and my spirit,” explained the musician during the presentation of the project.
“Today it is my turn to let it go, to share it and allow it to grow, to transform and to continue walking with me.”
The release of La Montaña Encendida marks the beginning of a new artistic stage for one of the most influential musicians of his generation.
His proposal, which mixes the experimental with the emotional, promises to connect with both Café Tacvba fans and new audiences looking for authenticity in contemporary Latin music.
