U.S. actresses Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway dazzled on Monday at a catwalk in Mexico City, the first of six metropolises they will visit in different parts of the world, to present the premiere of the second part of ‘The Devil Wears Prada’.
“This film offers a lot of heart and intelligence, but also a lot of fun and joy,” said Hathaway, who paraded alongside Streep to the rhythm of ‘Vogue,’ the most recognized theme of the film, which will be screened in Mexican theaters on April 30.
The Hollywood stars chose two of the country’s most important cultural hearts, Frida Kahlo’s Casa de Azul and Diego Rivera’s Anahuacalli Museum, to transform the New York setting of the film, which celebrates its second anniversary this year, into a pre-Hispanic setting made of volcanic rock.
The Anahuacalli, known for having been the last studio of the Mexican painter before his death in 1957, was the place where the actresses played the emblematic roles of Miranda Priestly and Andrea Sachs, the main characters of the feature film based on the novel by Lauren Weisberger, in a nighttime catwalk.

Mexico is one of the big box office bets for the sequel, due to its success in 2006, as it was the second highest grossing country in Latin America, followed by Brazil.
For this reason, Streep revealed that tonight the Mexican public would have a world exclusive: to see the first 20 minutes of the film.
“No one has seen this movie, not even my family has seen it, so put your phones down,” joked the three-time Oscar winner.
The teaser for the David Frankel-directed film promises Sachs’ return to Runway magazine with Priestly’s bittersweet company. This reunion in the fashion world will bring back the spotlight of fame, but also the hostile side of the industry.
“I read the script, it was fantastic, I’m so glad you’re going to see it,” Streep stressed about the return of this story to the big screen, which will be made up of her legendary cast: Emily Blunt (Emily) and Stanley Tucci (Nigel), as well as the starring appearance of Simone Ashley (‘Bridgerton’).
As part of this runway show, organized by Fashion Week Mexico, the actresses also recognized the work of 20 Mexican designers, who were responsible for dressing the models who paraded around the famous red trident-shaped heel, one of the most iconic symbols of the production.
In the morning, Streep and Hathaway also visited Frida Kahlo’s Casa de Azul in a meeting where they expressed their love for Mexico and thanked the Mexican public for the great reception the film received 20 years ago.
The stars of this cult comedy, which grossed more than US$326 million worldwide in its first release, will also be presented in Tokyo, Seoul, Shanghai, New York and London, reported Agencia EFE.
