With the start of the 2025 Major League Baseball season, expectations are growing among U.S. Hispanic fans to see Mexican players excel in the MLB. This year, 37 Mexican players are registered with Major League Baseball organizations, either on active rosters or in the minor leagues, with their sights set on consolidating their position at the highest level.
Among the names attracting the most attention this year are Isaac Paredes, Javier Assad, Alejandro Kirk, Randy Arozarena and Jonathan Aranda, according to experts such as Luis Cruz, former Dodgers player, and Luis Cessa, current pitcher in the Mexican League.
Big bet in Houston

After being traded to the Houston Astros, Isaac Paredes is shaping up to be one of the most promising Mexican players in 2025.
According to Cruz, Daikin Park may favor his batting style, with a short wall that would benefit him in doubles and homers.

In the words of the former player: “This stadium is for him, he is going to hit hard and with support in the lineup”.
In addition, Rodrigo Fernandez, director of MLB Mexico, said that this change of team could mark Paredes’ “breakout year,” with the support of a strong Mexican community in Houston.
Assad, Kirk and more

Despite a minor injury in Spring Training, Javier Assad (Cubs) continues to be one of the most reliable Mexican arms.
For Luis Cessa, his evolution places him as a solid starter: “He has a great repertoire, this is the year to establish himself”.
Also noteworthy is Alejandro Kirk (Blue Jays), who has shown power and consistency despite not having a traditional physique.
According to Cessa, “he is a tremendous ball player, with a lot of strength”.
Other names that sound strong are Jonathan Aranda, the Urias brothers, Andres Munoz and young Jared Serna (Marlins), who could make his debut this year after making a good impression in Spring Training.
Christian Zazueta Jr., a pitcher with great projection, also stands out in AA with the Dodgers.
Promising future for Mexico

The MLB Mexico office projects that between 25 and 30 Mexican players could be active in the MLB in a couple of years.
“The talent is there, and so are the opportunities,” says Fernandez.
This not only represents a boost for the players, but also for a more competitive national team heading into the next World Classic.
