After more than twenty years of uninterrupted work relationship, Miguel Varoni left Telemundo. The news was officially confirmed by the network itself after an inquiry made by Las Top News, thus clearing the doubts that had been generated in recent weeks by the absence of the Colombian actor, director and executive in several of the channel’s recent productions.

According to information published by journalist Mandy Fridmann, Varoni’s departure was finalized in December 2025 and does not respond to rumors or unofficial versions. In the same process, Cisco Suárez, another historical executive of the company, was also dismissed. The confirmation came after the media requested an official position from Telemundo, which ratified the decision.

Internal restructuring as a backdrop

According to the details, Varoni’s dismissal is part of an internal restructuring driven by the new content management, headed by Javier Pons, Chief Content Officer and Head of Telemundo Studios. This reorganization process seeks to redefine strategic areas within the company and adjust its operational structure to a new production stage.

The first signs of the change came when Miguel Varoni’s name was no longer linked to the network’s emblematic projects. Although he is currently in Colombia filming a new season of Pedro el Escamoso, his absence in titles such as Sin Senos Sí Hay Paraíso, where he previously served as director, and in the recent return of El Señor de los Cielos, caught the attention of the public and the industry.

Initially, there was speculation that it was a temporary permit to work with Caracol Televisión. However, the journalistic investigation confirmed that Telemundo decided to dispense with her services after 21 years of collaboration, and that her position was absorbed within the internal structure.

Recognition of Miguel Varoni’s career by the network

Telemundo issued a statement confirming the departure of the Colombian actor and highlighting his extensive career within the company. In the message, the network recognized his participation as an actor in successful productions such as La Casa de al Lado, Marido en Alquiler and El Señor de los Cielos. It also highlighted his professional evolution behind the scenes, where he contributed his creative vision as director in projects such as El Conde: Amor y Honor, Velvet, El Nuevo Imperio and Sed de Venganza.

The company thanked him for his years of contributions and wished him success in his next professional endeavors.

Miguel Varoni’s relationship with Telemundo began after the international success of Pedro el Escamoso, a production that, along with Betty la Fea and Xica Da Silva, allowed the network to position itself for the first time above Univision in audience levels. That phenomenon prompted his hiring and his move from Colombia to Miami, where he consolidated a career that left a significant mark on Hispanic television.

With his departure, an important chapter in Telemundo’s recent history closes and a new era begins for both the company and Varoni himself.
