On March 18 and 19, 2025, MLB officially kicked off its regular season with two games between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Chicago Cubs, played at the Tokyo Dome.

This series commemorated the 25th anniversary of the first regular season game played in Japan in 2000.

The games were part of the MLB World Tour 2025, a strategy that seeks to expand baseball’s global reach.

The Dodgers, who had participated in previous international games (Australia 2014, Mexico 2018 and South Korea 2024), made their debut in Japan for the first time.

The Cubs, on the other hand, returned to the stadium where they made history 25 years ago.
