In the early morning hours of April 8, 2025, the Jet Set nightclub in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, was the scene of a tragedy when the roof of the establishment collapsed during a performance by renowned merenguero Rubby Pérez.
The incident resulted in more than 60 people killed and more than 120 injured. Natti Natasha, originally from the Dominican Republic, was quick to react to the horrible tragedy.
Natti Natasha speaks out devastated
After the tragedy of the nightclub tragedy in which many fatalities have been counted, the singer Natti Natasha posted a message on her Instagram account.
“My beloved land, Dominican Republic. Today we all woke up with a broken heart,” Natti wrote at the beginning of her message.
“A tragedy that mourns our country and leaves a deep void in many families,” added the urban singer.
He continued, “We got up with tears in our eyes, in silence, in prayer.”
The singer asked “God to give strength to every mother, father, child, friend who today suffers the loss of a loved one”.
Finally, he added: “From the depths of my soul, I am with you in your pain. I am with you. We are in mourning.

What happened
The collapse occurred while Rubby Pérez, known as “La Voz Más Alta del Merengue”, was performing at the Jet Set discotheque, an emblematic Dominican nightlife venue.
Rubby Perez himself was trapped under the rubble, where he waited for more than 14 hours to be rescued.
But finally the merenguero could not take it anymore and ended up succumbing to his multiple injuries.
The president of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, expressed his condolences and assured that relief teams are working tirelessly in the rescue efforts.
