The NBA has officially unveiled the schedule for the 2025-26 season, which will begin on October 21, 2025 with a deluxe opening day. In the first game, the Oklahoma City Thunder, led by MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, will host the Houston Rockets, where none other than Kevin Durant, now 36 years old and looking for one last great campaign before retirement, will make his debut.
On the same day, the Los Angeles Lakers will take on the Golden State Warriors in a classic that promises excitement, with LeBron James still active in his 23rd season facing Stephen Curry once again.
NBA returns to NBC

One of the most striking changes this season is the return of the NBA to NBC after a 23-year absence.
The new television rights contract, signed in 2024, runs for 11 years and is valued at $76 billion, one of the largest sports deals in history.
This pact includes the broadcast of more than 100 games annually on NBC and Peacock.
With weekly doubleheaders, conference semifinals, finals and special programming on dates such as Christmas, Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Thanksgiving.
In addition, the classic “Roundball Rock” theme song will be played again, generating great nostalgia among fans who followed the league in the 1990s.

NBA Christmas Day is one of the most anticipated moments on the calendar, and in 2025 it will include spectacular clashes:
San Antonio Spurs vs. Oklahoma City Thunder, with the dream matchup between Victor Wembanyama and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
New York Knicks vs. Cleveland Cavaliers at Madison Square Garden, keeping with the tradition of watching the Knicks on Christmas.
Other notable games will include the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics, plus the visit of Devin Booker’s Phoenix Suns to Milwaukee.
International events and NBA Cup

In addition to the traditional games, the league has confirmed that the regular season will include international games in Mexico, Berlin and London, consolidating the NBA’s global strategy.
NBA Cup 2025, the mid-season tournament, will be played between October 31 and December 16, with group stages and a grand finale in Las Vegas.
For the U.S. Hispanic community, the new season offers greater access thanks to Spanish-language broadcasts on Telemundo and Universo, in addition to coverage on digital platforms.
This will allow more families to follow their favorite teams and Latino players looking to make their mark in the NBA, such as Dominican Chris Duarte and Mexico’s Jaime Jaquez Jr.
