New seasons of new series premieres: ‘Merlina’ leads the way

Series are coming to various platforms as premieres or new seasons, and we'll tell you which ones you should watch.

The last four-month period of 2025 begins full of series premieres and returns on the main platforms, with historical dramas such as ‘House of Guinness’, the end of the second season of the acclaimed ‘Merlina’ or ‘Task’, with Mark Ruffalo in the role of an FBI agent.

– ‘Merlina,’ Part 2 finale (Nexflix).

Merlina Addams (Jenna Ortega) will once again prowl the gothic halls of Nevermore Academy, in a new installment of the second part of this series, the second most watched in Netflix history, only surpassed by ‘Squid Game’.

Starting September 3, the platform will offer episodes five through eight, the last of the second season, which will not be the final one, as Netflix has announced that there will be a third.

– ‘Task’ (HBO)

Coming to HBO on September 8 is ‘Task,’ the series set in the blue-collar suburbs of Philadelphia, in which an FBI agent (Mark Ruffalo) leads a task force to put a stop to a series of violent robberies led by an unsuspecting family man (Tom Pelphrey).

In addition to Ruffalo and Pelphrey, Emilia Jones, Jamie McShane, Sam Keeley, Thuso Mbedu, Fabien Frankel, Alison Oliver, Raul Castillo, Silvia Dionicio, Phoebe Fox and Martha Plimpton star in this production.

– ‘House of Guinness’ (Netflix).

The same month, on the 25th, Netflix will premiere ‘House of Guinness’, a historical drama created by Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders), which transports us to Ireland and the United Kingdom at the end of the 19th century, through the Guinness family and their brewing empire.

With family intrigues, inheritance struggles and social tensions of the time, it promises to be one of the great Netflix productions this year.

Anthony Boyle, Louis Partridge and Emily Fairn are some of the stars of this eight-episode series that can be seen in full from its premiere.

– ‘The Morning show’. Season 4 (Apple TV)

The fourth season of ‘The Morning Show’ will arrive on Apple TV on September 17 and will be set in the spring of 2024, almost two years after the events of the third season.

With the UBA-NBN merger complete, the program’s editorial staff must grapple with new accountability, ulterior motives and the elusive nature of truth in a polarized America.

Along with Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, the stellar cast of the fourth season includes Billy Crudup, Karen Pittman, Nicole Beharie and Nestor Carbonell, among others.

– The Savant (Apple TV)

Award-winning American actress and producer Jessica Chastain stars in this eight-episode miniseries that Apple TV will premiere on September 26.

In ‘The Savant,’ Chastain steps into the shoes of an undercover investigator who infiltrates Internet hate groups to try to stop extremist radicals before they act.

– Chad powers (Disney+)

September is the month par excellence for premieres on the platforms, also for Disney+, where starting on the 30th it will be possible to see ‘Chad powers’, an American sports comedy created by Glen Powell and Michael Waldron, and starring Powell in the lead role.

The series tells the story of brilliant quarterback Russ Holliday, who eight years after an unforgivable mistake ended his promising college soccer career, tries to resurrect his dreams by posing as Chad Powers, an eccentric and talented player who joins the struggling South Georgia Catfish.

– ‘The Girlfriend’ (Prime Video)
Robin Wright directs and stars in this psychological thriller based on the novel of the same name by Michelle Frances. With Olivia Cooke in the role of Cherry, the production delves into the changes that occur in the latter’s life when her son introduces her to his new girlfriend (Cooke).

It will be available on Prime Video starting September 10.

– ‘The Dutton Ranch’ (Paramount+)

The Yellowstone universe continues with this spin-off centered on Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler, two of the saga’s most admired characters. In addition, Annette Bening joins the cast as an influential rancher who will bring new tensions.

In addition, ‘The house of the spirits’, a Chilean production based on the novel of the same name by Isabel Allende, is expected to premiere on Prime Video before the end of the year.

This new version has been created by Francisca Alegría and Andrés Wood and will feature a cast that includes Alfonso Herrera, Nicole Wallace, Dolores Fonzi and Juan Pablo Raba, among others.
