The 2025 edition of Miss Universe has been, without a doubt, one of the most controversial in recent years. After the resignation of two judges -among them Omar Harfouch and former soccer player Claude Makélélé- who publicly stated that the contest was allegedly fixed, suspicions and theories began to multiply in social networks.

In the midst of this atmosphere of tension and mistrust, the name of Osmel Sousa, known worldwide as El Zar de la Belleza (The Beauty Czar), was once again at the center of the conversation.

Hours before the final, Sousa shared on social networks his prediction: according to him, the crown would be between Miss Mexico or Miss Thailand.

After Mexican Fátima Bosch was confirmed as the winner, users began to attack him, claiming that he “knew the plot” and that “everything was fixed”.

Osmel Sousa’s reaction to the triumph of Miss Mexico

Faced with the growing number of comments that accused him of having privileged information, Osmel Sousa decided to respond directly.

Through her social networks, she wrote: “No trickery. That girl is fabulous.

With these words, the beauty pageant expert -who has trained multiple queens throughout his career- made it clear that his prediction was not based on alleged fixes, but on his professional experience and the evident strength of the two candidates he mentioned.

Vanessa Lyon, partner of host Carlos Calderón, also defended the Beauty Czar: “[Osmel] has been doing this for years. He has a good eye, besides Thailand was one of the favorites”.

His comment reinforced the idea that Sousa was simply making an analysis based on his experience, as both Mexico and Thailand were on all the prediction lists as high-level candidates.

Fatima Bosch: favorite before the finals

Fatima Bosch’s triumph was not a product of chance. The 25-year-old from Tabasco had attracted attention since weeks prior to the contest for her: confidence on stage, extreme discipline, impeccable performance in interviews, and, especially, for her courage in confronting misogynistic comments during an official activity.

Her assertive demeanor in the face of a hostile situation quickly made her a favorite among the public and pageant experts. Her crowning as Miss Universe 2025 not only lived up to expectations, but marked a historic moment for Mexico, which celebrated its fourth crown in the international pageant.

For her part, Araya Rattanakul, representative of Thailand, also reached the final backed by a solid preparation, a strong charisma and the massive support of the Asian public. For many beauty specialists -including Osmel Sousa- she was a natural contender for the title, which is why her presence in the top final surprised no one.

In the midst of the wave of speculation, Sousa’s resignation from his role within the Miss Universe organization was also mentioned again. In early November, the expert confirmed that he was leaving his position as advisor, a decision he made after evaluating his personal and professional goals: “Three weeks ago, after having fulfilled my mission in the Miss Universe pageant, I made the decision to resign from the position of advisor to the organization. This was not a decision taken lightly, but a step that I felt necessary after reflecting on what I had achieved and what I want for the future”.

Despite the criticisms, accusations and conspiracy theories, the truth is that both Fatima Bosch and Araya Rattanakul were natural favorites going into the final. Mexico’s victory has been widely celebrated and, although some try to tarnish the result with rumors, most of the public agrees that the Mexican won on merit.

Osmel Sousa, faithful to his direct style, closed the controversy by defending his professional position and the quality of the candidates. Meanwhile, the whole world continues to celebrate the historic triumph of Fatima Bosch.
