SingerPeso Pluma became on Monday the first Mexican to be named ambassador of New York Fashion Week (NYFW) 2025, which kicks off this Thursday.
According to a statement, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) officially awarded the title to the artist today, after breaking the news last week.
As an ambassador, Peso Pluma, 26, will attend the opening of the spring summer 2026 season alongside CFDA president Thom Brown, designers Michael Korse and Anna Sui, model Anok Yai and Puerto Rican singer Young Miko.
“This appointment makes Peso the face of NYFW and a symbol of the growing influence of Latin music and culture on the global fashion landscape,” the release notes.
Peso Pluma and NY Fashion Week

The Mexican will be part of NYFW Live at Rockefeller Center, which broadcasts live the collections of U.S. designers presenting their work this week in the city.
Peso Pluma, a native of Guadalajara, gained fame in 2023 with songs like ‘Ella Baila Sola’ and already harvests more than 38 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
The musician, who won a Grammy for best Mexican music album in 2024, already attended New York Fashion Week earlier this year, when he was part of the audience at Thom Browne’s fall-winter collection show.
This September’s most anticipated fashion event in the Big Apple features designers such as Michael Kors and Calvin Klein, although veterans such as Carolina Herrera, Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren are notably absent, reported Agencia EFE.
