The MLS 2025 transfer market continues to leave relevant news for fans, especially for Latinos who closely follow their compatriots abroad.

While Gonzalo Piovi did not finally arrive at Inter Miami due to a lack of agreement between the directors, the Florida club did finalize the arrival of young Argentine striker Mateo Silvetti, a bet on the future that is already generating expectations.

Argentine defender Gonzalo Piovi was very close to becoming a reinforcement for Inter Miami, Lionel Messi’s team.

The player had everything ready to travel to the United States; however, the transfer was thwarted at the last minute.

The main reason was that Cruz Azul and the MLS club were unable to work out payment terms.

While the Mexican team was asking for around seven million dollars in a single payment, Inter Miami proposed a five-year installment plan, something that did not convince the cement company’s board of directors.

With the closing of MLS registrations, Piovi will continue to be part of the Cruz Azul squad for the Apertura 2025 tournament, where he will be a key player in the defense.

Although Piovi did not arrive, Inter Miami was not left empty-handed.

The club officially announced the signing of 19-year-old Argentine striker Mateo Silvetti from Newell’s Old Boys.

The signing was made under MLS’s Under-22 Initiative, which allows teams to register up to four players under the age of 22 at a reduced salary cap cost.

Silvetti signed a contract through 2029 with an option to extend to 2030.

During 2024, Silvetti played 37 official games for Newell’s, scoring 6 goals and providing 2 assists.

In addition, he has already been coached by Javier Mascherano in Argentina’s U-20 national team, which facilitates his integration into Inter Miami’s sporting project.
