Monterrey, led by Spanish defender Sergio Ramos, will visit champions Toluca tomorrow, confident of not losing in order to qualify for the final of the Apertura 2025 Mexican soccer tournament (Liga MX).

After some ups and downs at the back, Spanish coach Domenec Torrent’s Rayados have kept their opponents scoreless in their two home games, in the quarterfinals and semifinals. Now they will try to maintain their order against the best team in the league.

It will be a thrilling duel with Toluca, who after losing the first leg 1-0, must win in order to defend their title, and Monterrey, who, while defending tooth and nail, will not give up attacking.

With the Argentine Germán Berterame, the Spaniard Sergio Canales and the Mexican Jesús Corona as the spark plugs of the offense, Monterrey will be on the lookout for any space left by the Diablos in their eagerness to attack to hurt them.

It will be a difficult challenge because, in addition to having the second most reliable defense in the tournament, Toluca has the best attack.

Led by Portugal’s Paulinho, the championship’s leading scorer, and Brazil’s Helinho.

Toluca has regretted the loss of Mexican striker Alexis Vega.

Without him, he has two clean sheets, including the home game against Juárez FC in the quarterfinals.

Argentine coach Antonio Mohamed will need Paulinho to shine and the team to play its best game against a Monterrey team that has gone from strength to strength.

Rayados eliminated the favored América in the quarterfinals and feels close to the Liga MX final, although they will have to draw or win tomorrow.

Tigres and Cruz Azul define opponent for the grand final

The qualifier between the two will play for the championship against the best of Tigres UANL of Argentine world champion Ángel Correa and Cruz Azul.

With a goal by Correa, the Tigres of Argentine coach Guido Pizarro drew 1-1 with the Azules and now, with only a draw, will qualify for the final of the Liga MX.

In that case, the series would be tied and the felines would eliminate their rival for having finished better in the regular phase.

Although the Celestes’ coach, the Argentine Nicolás Larcamón, said that he prefers to be obliged to win so that his team does not relax, it is hardly credible for him to celebrate being at a disadvantage because beating Tigres in their stadium is complicated.

In addition to having the best defense in the Apertura, with four fewer goals conceded than Cruz Azul, Tigres has a top-notch offense with Correa, Argentine Juan Brunetta, Frenchman André Pierre Gignac, Uruguayan Fernando Gorriarán and Mexican Diego Lainez.
