Colombian singer Shakira has confirmed her return to the Zootopia universe by re-lending her voice to the character Gazelle, the pop star gazelle she played in the original 2016 film.

In this second animated installment, the artist shared on networks a promotional image to announce her participation in Zootopia 2.

In the photo, Shakira appears dressed in a stylized outfit that evokes Gazelle’s aesthetic, including light “horns” on her head, and holding a stuffed animal representing Judy Hopps, the police bunny protagonist of the saga. In the text accompanying the post, he wrote: “Looks like Judy Hopps likes Gazelle’s song too. #Zootopia2.”

In the first film, Gazelle performed “Try Everything”, a song that became one of her most memorable anthems. For Zootopia 2, Shakira participates in the creation of a new original song titled “Zoo”, composed with Ed Sheeran and Blake Slatkin.

The single was released on October 10, 2025, while the full soundtrack will be available on November 21, a few days before the film’s release.

The song “Zoo” will be part of the official soundtrack and seeks to maintain the energy and vibrant spirit that characterized the figure of Gazelle in the first installment.

Shakira’s promotional post generated a wide range of comments from her followers. Many focused on the “horns” she wore as part of her wardrobe, making humorous references to her personal life. One wrote: “Not even Piqué dared to do so much”. Another commented: “Well, I love that he is able to wear those horns, yes sir.

However, it was not all irony; numerous fans dedicated messages of admiration for her return to animated films and for her musical contribution. Some expressed that Gazelle deserved to have a movie of her own, given her popularity.

Shakira, for her part, seemed to enjoy this playful presentation of her role in Zootopia 2, taking pride in reprising her role and promoting her new song.

Zootopia 2 is scheduled for release in the United States on November 26, 2025.

In Latin America, the premiere is scheduled for the following day: November 27. The film will feature the return of central characters Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (voiced by Jason Bateman), as well as the addition of new faces to the voice cast.

Shakira is among the most anticipated returns of the project, in which Gazelle will change her appearance, have new dance moves and add a new theme song.
