Ryan Coogler’s ‘Sinners’ made history Thursday by becoming the film with the most nominations in Oscar history, with a record 16 nominations.
The vampire film surpassed the 14 previously held by three cinema classics: ‘Naked Eve’ (1950), ‘Titanic’ (1997) and ‘La La Land’ (2016).
Below ‘Sinners’ is Paul Thomas Anderson’s ‘One Battle After Another’ with 13 nominations, followed by ‘Marty Supreme’, ‘Frankenstein’ and Norway’s ‘Sentimental Value’, which accumulated a total of 9 nominations each.

The film starring Michael B. Jordan and written and directed by Coogler (‘Black Panther’) is set in 1930s Mississippi, and follows twin brothers Smoke and Stack, both played by Jordan, who return to their hometown for a fresh start, only to discover that an ancient evil awaits them.
‘Los pecadores’ has been celebrated for its critical look at music as a space of creation and resistance, but also of exploitation and cultural appropriation, questioning who benefits from musical genres born in marginalized communities.

According to Agencia EFE, the film met the expectations of the specialized media, which predicted that it would break the record for nominations at the awards ceremony to be held on March 15 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.
