Spanish singer Julio Iglesias has posted on his Instagram profile several messages he allegedly received from WhatsApp from the female workers who have denounced him for sexual assault with which he seems to want to prove his innocence.
“The evidence is clear: the WhatsApp communications sent by the complainants during the time they worked at my house and the communications after they left, show that the information disseminated lacks veracity,” the singer says in a statement included in his profile along with screenshots of those messages.
He says that Instagram is the “only means that allows me to legitimately exercise my right to defense and put on record the absolute falsity of the facts denounced”, after the Spanish Prosecutor’s Office did not allow him to exercise his defense in the proceedings that have been initiated in this country.
In one of the messages of April 20, 2021 that he attributes to his workers reads: “Professor good night, I hope you can sleep without discomfort, dream with the angels and you can rest, I love you very much and if you need anything from me here I am at your disposal, thanks for your patience and your teachings today, every day at your side are valuable to me because I learn a little more (adds a heart) a kiss and a hug! Happy night”.
In another message (May 1, 2021) we read: “Hello Professor! Good afternoon, let me know when you want me to come to do the exercises”, and in another one sent on May 2, this person says “Good morning professor! I hope you had a very good night, remember to put on your postural girdle…a kiss…see you in a while”.
In one more on September 23, 2022, they wish him “Happy birthday Julitooooosss!!!! Dear professor, may God continue to fill you with lots of health so you can continue to enjoy this beautiful life, I send you a kiss and a hug, I LOVE YOU. I always remember you, with love.
And another screenshot posted by the singer reads: “Just want to say hi”, “send you a big hug” and tell you that “he loves you very much”.
In his statement, the singer assures that “it is very serious that lies and disinformation are used as weapons to attack people”.
For this reason, “I attach some of the whatsapp communications that highlight the inconsistency of the allegations and the media manipulation to which I am being subjected”.
Julio Iglesias’ publications come after the Spanish National Court Prosecutor’s Office has rejected for the time being the request of Julio Iglesias’ lawyer to accept his participation in the investigation against him, in order to have direct access to the contents of the complaint for alleged sexual crimes being investigated in Spain.
The Prosecutor’s Office is investigating a complaint against the singer for alleged sexual harassment and assault in 2021 to two female employees in the Dominican Republic and Bahamas.
The alleged facts affect a former employee of the singer’s home and a physiotherapist, who have provided before the court labor documents, photographs, recordings, WhatsApp messages or call records to prove the veracity of their allegations, which include sexual assaults, humiliation and systematic labor humiliation, reported Agencia EFE.
