On Thursday, July 17, 2025, the Welsh club was surprised to announce that the famous rapper Snoop Dogg, 53, has joined Swansea City, which plays in the English Championship, as a co-owner and “high-profile investor”.

This news follows the recent addition of Luka Modrić, who joined the investment group in April also as a co-owner.

According to the club, the addition of Snoop Dogg seeks to boost Swansea’s global visibility by leveraging his influence as a multi-platinum, soccer-loving artist.

In his own words:

“My love for soccer is well known…I was moved by the history of the club and its people.”

To celebrate his arrival, a mural with his image was unveiled in the west stand of Liberty Stadium by artist Hasan Kamil.

Context and projection

Swansea have not contested the Premier League since 2018 and finished 11th in the Championship in the 2024-25 season.

Now, with the media backing of Snoop Dogg and the soccer experience of Modrić, the club aims to raise its global profile.

As well as to strengthen its commercial projection through a strategy similar to that used by Wrexham, owned by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

The unveiling of Swansea’s 2025-26 home kit included Snoop Dogg posing in the club’s white jersey, sparking a flurry of interactions on social media.

The club launched a nod to Wrexham with the slogan “Dogg included” in response to Ryan Reynolds’ “Dog not included” campaign.

There is even speculation that their link could go beyond a mere image, with the club hinting at future announcements

Snoop Dogg and Modrić’s involvement with Swansea reinforces several key points for Hispanics in the US:

Creative investment model: demonstrates that European soccer remains attractive to global personalities beyond Europe.

Cultural bridge: promotes Swansea’s visibility to Latino audiences in the U.S., thanks to charismatic figures such as Snoop Dogg.

Sporting and social inspiration: those who follow the rapper could become interested in traditional British soccer, expanding the fan base.
