A back injury of the protagonist Sophie Turner has forced to stop the filming in the county of Surrey, southwest of London, of the new series of the Tomb Raider saga for at least a month, according to the newspaper ‘The Sun’ on Monday.

Production company Prime Video confirmed that Turner, who plays adventurer and archaeologist Lara Croft, has suffered “a minor injury” and that “production has been paused briefly to give her time to recover”.

However, ‘The Sun’ spoke to a production source who was more pessimistic: “It’s been chaos on set and now the whole shoot is in jeopardy.” Turner, who already arrived on set in January with back pain, has pushed his body to the limit in physically demanding scenes, he said.

The situation is such that the production is contemplating discarding Turner and casting another leading lady, but “there is so much that has already been shot that it has become a headache for the producers,” said the same source.

Sophie Turner, who rose to fame with ‘Game of Thrones’, has told on occasion that she had to hire a personal trainer to adapt her body and physical endurance for the role, investing eight hours a day for five days a week, and it was then that she discovered she had a chronic back problem that she thought she could overcome, reported Agencia EFE.
