The San Antonio Spurs won their sixth consecutive victory on Sunday against the Washington Wizards (113-124), Jordi Fernández’s Brooklyn Nets beat the Toronto Raptors for another win (96-81) and the Chicago Bulls’ visit to the Atlanta Hawks ended with more than 300 points.
The game at Capital One Arena was a mere formality for the Spurs (21-7), who are in second place in the West behind only the Oklahoma City Thunder.

It was also the sixth straight win for a San Antonio team on a roll, with Victor Wembanyama once again coming off the bench in his recovery process, proving that the Spurs are serious.
In just over 20 minutes on the court, the Frenchman signed a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
De’Aaron Fox led the team with 27 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists, while Luke Kornet (20 points and 12 rebounds) and Stephon Castle (18 points and 11 assists) added two more double-doubles.
“We were able to respond when the game got complicated. We didn’t start well in the last quarter, but we kept our composure and fought until the end.
“We won three of the four quarters and it was very positive to see it against a high level opponent,” said Fernandez in a press conference after the game.
It was the fifth win in the last eight games for the Nets, who had started the season as one of the worst teams in the East and in the league.
This Sunday, after leading by +15 in the third quarter, the Nets (8-19) saw the Raptors (17-13) come back to take the lead in the final period.
Brooklyn reacted with a 24-8 final score.
Fernandez also highlighted the defensive level shown by his team in the last few games after leaving Toronto at 81.
“At the beginning of the season we were not good at the back, but we have evolved, we have made adjustments and now we feel we have a good rhythm. We are building our defensive identity.”

The Atlanta Hawks 150-152 Chicago Bulls ended with almost twice as many points as the Nets-Raptors (96-81).
The Atlanta game was the game with the most points this season in the NBA, a true offensive festival with both teams involved and without overtime.
Nine Chicago players finished with 10 points or more, with Matas Buzelis leading all scorers with 28 and Josh Giddey close to a triple-double with 19 points, 12 assists and 9 rebounds.
For Atlanta, Jalen Johnson finished with 36 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists, while Trae Young signed 35 points and 9 assists.
The Bulls had also been involved in this year’s scoring record so far, a game they lost 150-147 to the Utah Jazz, but with two overtimes.
In addition to these games, the New York Knicks beat the Miami Heat 132-125 with 47 points from Jalen Brunson and are in second place in the Eastern Conference with a 20-8 record, just two wins behind the Detroit Pistons (22-6).
And in Minneapolis, the Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 103-100 after upending the Milwaukee Bucks by 16 points. Anthony Edwards scored 24 points for the Wolves, while Giannis Antetokounmpo is still out with an injury.
Beyond strictly sporting matters, the NBA on Sunday fined Timberwolves and Denver Nuggets coaches Chris Finch and David Adelman $35,000 apiece for incidents with referees.
Both Finch and Adelman were punished for using inappropriate language to the referees and not leaving the court immediately after their ejection.
The Adelman incident occurred Saturday in the Nuggets’ loss to the Houston Rockets, while the Finch incident occurred Friday in the Timberwolves’ win over the Oklahoma City Thunder.
