The 2025 Club World Cup, which saw Chelsea crowned champions in the United States, registered an audience of 2.7 billion viewers worldwide and drew 2.5 million people to the stadiums, FIFA said Tuesday.
“Preliminary data confirms that the inaugural edition of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 captivated viewers around the world. Nielsen Sports estimates that around 2.7 billion viewers followed the tournament across a variety of media,” said soccer’s governing body in a statement.

According to data from the sports measurement and analysis platform, more than 131 million people followed the tournament on television in Brazil, representing 62% of its population.
In addition, 60% of Portugal – a country of some ten million inhabitants – tuned in at some point to the tournament, while around 50% of the population of other nations such as Spain – 48 million inhabitants – or Italy – 58 million – also followed the competition.
In terms of specific matches, FIFA mentioned that the Club World Cup round of 16 match between Manchester City and Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal achieved a 77.9% television audience share in Saudi Arabia.
While Boca Juniors-Benfica was followed by more than 9.1 million people in Argentina, “representing an audience rating of 84.2%, the highest in the country since the final of the CONMEBOL Libertadores 2023”.

FIFA general secretary Mattias Grafström said in the statement that these figures made the tournament “a global success that has marked a turning point”.
He highlighted the role of the DAZN platform, which broadcast the competition exclusively and free of charge.
In addition to this audience, 2.5 million people came to the stadiums of the eleven venues to watch the matches, FIFA added.
The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup will be held from June 14 to July 13 in the United States.
It was the first edition to be played under a renewed format, which included the participation of 32 teams and the holding of the tournament every four years.
Chelsea won the trophy in the final played at the MetLife Stadium in New York/New Jersey by beating Paris Saint-Germain 3-0, according to EFE.
