Tottenham Hotspur were crowned champions of the UEFA Europa League 2025 after beating Manchester United 1-0 in the final on Wednesday 21 May at the San Mamés stadium in Bilbao.

The victory ended a 37-year European title drought and was the club’s first continental trophy since the UEFA Cup in 1984.

The only goal of the match came from Welsh striker Brennan Johnson, who took advantage of a quick team move in the 35th minute and finished with precision inside the box to beat goalkeeper André Onana.

The move was the result of high Tottenham pressure and a mistake in United’s exit.

Johnson, 23, scored his eighth goal of the season and was recognized as Man of the Match for his constant unbalanced play on the right wing.

Manchester United, who were looking to salvage their season after a poor performance in the Premier League, failed to convert any clear goalscoring chances.

Neither Marcus Rashford nor Bruno Fernandes could get past Tottenham’s solid defense, led by Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.

Coach Ange Postecoglou, in his second season in charge of Tottenham, has won his first European title.

It also secures direct qualification to the UEFA Champions League 2025-2026, something that seemed unlikely just a few months ago.

For U.S. Hispanic fans, this win cements the Spurs as one of the teams to watch.
