The Administration of U.S. President Donald Trump claimed to have detained more than 4,000 immigrants accused of various crimes during operations carried out in Minneapolis by federal agents under the so-called ‘Operation Metro’.
According to data released by the White House, the arrests include individuals convicted of serious crimes such as murder, rape, robbery and drug trafficking, as well as gang members and others considered a threat to public safety.

Authorities noted that the operations were carried out by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents with the support of the Border Patrol and local law enforcement, as part of a deployment that began in mid-2025.
The statement, signed by presidential spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt, assures that this is an “unprecedented achievement,” justifying the deployment of more than 3,000 federal agents to the city, where in January two Americans, Renee Good and Alex Pretti, died after being shot by officers in two separate operations in Minneapolis.
Prior to the release of this data, the Trump Administration’s border ‘czar’ Tom Homan announced that he will recall some 700 immigration agents from the state of Minnesota and the city of Minneapolis because of “unprecedented” cooperation from local authorities.
“Because of this unprecedented increase in collaboration (from local entities in Minnesota) and because of the need for fewer officers to do this work in a safer environment, I am announcing that we are immediately lowering our presence by 700 officers today,” Homan said at a press conference.
The announcement comes after constant protests by citizens, who after the deaths of Good and Pretti have held constant demonstrations and sit-ins in the city demanding a response from the justice system, as well as a withdrawal of federal forces.
The actions of immigration agents have been questioned by social organizations and civilians because there have also been detentions of minors, such as that of Liam Conejo, a five-year-old boy who was returned home over the weekend after being sent to a detention center in Texas with his father.
