The legal dispute involving Christian Nodal and his parents took a new turn after it was announced that Universal Music, the record label with which the singer was linked, appealed the court decision that had favored them.

Although a judge determined that there was insufficient evidence to convict them in a criminal proceeding for alleged falsification of documents, the company decided not to be satisfied with this result and filed an appeal that keeps the conflict open against the González Nodal family.

This move reactivated the judicial front that, at times, seemed to be on the way to closing after the initial decision of the authority.

Before the appeal was heard, the interpreter himself had publicly celebrated the ruling that left him out of the criminal proceedings. This occurred after an extensive hearing, described as marathon, in which the alleged existence of 33 false documents linked to the case was discussed.

After being favored, Nodal expressed: “Satisfactorily, we were not linked”, emphasizing that -according to his position- there was not a single piece of paper to justify accusations of signature forgery. This statement reflected that, for him and his defense, the issue was solved at the criminal level. However, this moment of tranquility was brief.

According to what was informed through an official document presented on the program Venga la Alegría, Universal Music’s lawyers filed on November 25 an appeal against the determination of “no trial” that favored:

Christian Jesús González Nodal

Silvia Cristina Nodal Jiménez

Jaime González Terrazas

This information -until then not widely disseminated- confirms that the dispute continues and that the label is seeking to have the court decision reviewed or eventually reversed.

The case is not limited to a single area. The text recalls that, in addition to the criminal proceeding for alleged forgery, there is also a civil lawsuit related to the conflict. According to what was stated, the prosecuting party tried to transfer the civil issue to the criminal field, but the judge rejected that route.

Even so, the fact that Universal Music has filed an appeal opens the possibility that the case will remain active on more than one front, and that the allegations will continue to be reviewed in higher instances.

Nodal’s defense has insisted that there is no evidence to support the accusations and that the initial ruling was clear that there were no elements to link Nodal or his parents. However, the appeal changes the panorama: although the previous ruling was celebrated as a triumph, the appeal forces the family to continue facing a process that they already believed was on its way to being closed.

The revelation of the appeal marks an important point in this conflict: Universal Music chose to maintain its position and keep the litigation alive. Now, the future of the case will depend on what the authorities determine in the face of this challenge, while the tension between both parties continues.
