The community of Stockton, in Northern California, continues to mourn after the devastating shooting that occurred during a children’s party on Saturday, November 29, which left four people dead and 11 injured. Authorities have not yet officially released the names of the victims, but family members have confirmed the identities of three of the four people killed, including two minors and a young adult. They are Maya Lupian, 8; Amari Peterson, 14; and Susano Archuleta, 21. The identity of the fourth deceased has not been publicly confirmed.
The attack occurred at a Stockton party hall where a birthday celebration for a two-year-old boy was being held. There were at least 100 people in attendance, including numerous families with young children. What was supposed to be an evening of fellowship ended up turning into a tragedy when several gunshots erupted at the celebration shortly before 6:00 pm. According to family members told local media such as CBS, Maya Lupian and Amari Peterson attended the party with close relatives.
Eight-year-old Maya, a third grader, was described as a cheerful and respectful child.
Amari, 14, was in high school and was known for his athletic ability.
Susano Archuleta, 21, was attending as a guest of the host family.
Although authorities have not yet detailed the type of weapon used or confirmed whether the shooting was random or targeted, the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office indicated early on that the attack could be related to gang violence, which remains the main line of investigation.
However, no arrests have been announced so far.

In addition to the four fatalities, 11 people were injured, several of them minors.
According to initial medical reports, some victims were taken in critical condition to hospitals in the region, while others were treated for minor injuries.
Authorities said the number of injured could change as the investigation progresses and hospital information is updated.
The Sheriff’s Office has indicated that firearms were found on the roof of the event hall, although it has not yet been determined if they are linked to the attack.
Investigators continue to review videos, interview witnesses and gather evidence to identify those responsible.
