The Los Angeles Rams, Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers and Chicago Bears are all forced to win to stay in contention for first place in the National Conference (NFC) heading into Week 16 of the NFL season.
This Thursday, the Rams, who are number one in the NFC with 11 wins and three losses, must beat the Seahawks if they want to hold the position that gives them the right to rest the first week of the playoffs and play the rest of their games at home until the conference finals. A loss will open the way for Seattle to become the new NFC leader by reaching 12 wins and three losses, a position they will hold if they close the regular season with wins in Week 17 against the Panthers and Week 18 against the 49ers.
Bears play for the NFC lead

On Saturday, the 10-4 Chicago Bears are on a mission to beat the Green Bay Packers to stay in the hunt for the Rams and Seahawks.
It won’t be easy against a team they have lost 12 of their most recent 13 contests.
The closest of these occurred a couple of weeks ago at home to Green Bay, who beat them 28-21.
A Packers win, in addition to dashing Chicago’s hopes of finishing atop the NFC, will put Green Bay in first place in the conference North and relegate the Bears to second place.
49ers still dreaming of the NFC summit

The other contender for first place in the Nationals, the San Francisco 49ers, will collide against the Indianapolis Colts on Monday in the NFL’s Week 16 finale.
The Gambusinos, 10-4, have remained in third place in the West division virtually all season, in the shadow of the Rams and Seahawks, who have 11-3 records.
The combination for San Francisco to finish number one in the NFC is simple:
First, they must hope that Seattle beats the Rams and must complete a winless closing game against the Colts, Bears in Week 17 and Seahawks in Week 18.
Among the 12 games scheduled for Sunday is the visit of the Jacksonville Jaguars, who are looking to stay first in the American Football Conference (AFC) South, to the Denver Broncos, number one in the AFC, who will maintain their status if they are able to close the season with three wins.
The matchup between the Baltimore Ravens and New England Patriots also catches the eye.
