What looked like another night of dominance for the New York Yankees ended in profound silence at T-Mobile Park after a chilling injury to Oswaldo Cabrera, who had to leave the field in an ambulance after a play at home plate.

In the top of the fourth inning, with the bases loaded and one out, Oswaldo Cabrera attempted to score from third base after a sacrifice fly by Aaron Judge. Although he managed to elude outfielder Leody Taveras’ throw and catcher Cal Raleigh’s bunt, his left ankle buckled violently as he tried to stop after overshooting the plate. Despite the obvious pain, he managed to return and touch home plate with his hand before falling to the ground without being able to get up. The seriousness of the situation became clear as the stadium fell silent, and medical personnel rushed to the field. Initially, a crash cart was requested, but then an ambulance was brought onto the field to remove him on a stretcher, to the dismayed gaze of his teammates, including Captain Judge.

“We all saw what happened. We’re praying for Cabby tonight. He’s a player who always gives his all and we all felt this blow.”

The Yankees later confirmed that Oswaldo Cabrera was transported to a hospital in Seattle, where he underwent tests for a severe lower left leg injury.

Although a definitive diagnosis has not yet been reported, sources close to the team indicate that the player will be out for at least six weeks.
