Zootopia 2 is already the highest-grossing animated film in history.

‘Zootopia 2’, the Disney hit, becomes the highest-grossing made-in-Hollywood animated film in history with a global gross of $1.706 billion worldwide, surpassing ‘Inside Out 2’, according to data from the Box Office Mojo website.

The Chinese film “Ne Zha 2,” a non-MPAA-affiliated release, remains the world’s highest-grossing animated film with $2.25 billion, according to Variety.

With these figures, ‘Zootopia 2’ ranks as the ninth highest-grossing worldwide release of all time, behind two superhero blockbusters: ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ ($1.9 billion) and ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ ($2 billion), according to the U.S. media.

This weekend’s box office, according to Box Office Mojo, was marked by the arrival of the post-apocalyptic horror ’28 Years Later: The Bone Temple’, the sequel to the ’28 Years Later’ saga, which grossed a total of $31 million worldwide, $13 million of which came from North American (Canada and the United States) theaters.

In this market, ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ is hot on the heels of ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’, which remains as this weekend’s top grosser with $13.3 million in the United States.

The third installment of James Cameron’s saga has grossed a total of $1.322 billion since its worldwide release on December 19.

Zootopia 2′ was the third highest-grossing film in the North American market this weekend with $8.8 million, followed by ‘The Housemaid’ with $8.5 million ($177 million worldwide since its release) and ‘Marty Supreme’ with $5.5 million and $94.8 million worldwide, reported Agencia EFE.
