Avatar: Fire & Ash reaches the billion dollar mark and completes 3 weeks at the top of the box office

Avatar: Fire & Ash reached one billion dollars in box office revenue.

‘Avatar; Fire and Ash,’ the third installment in James Cameron’s saga, has surpassed $1 billion worldwide after 18 days at the box office, $306 million in the U.S. and $777 million in other markets, according to the Box Office Mojo website.

The previous installments of the saga also surpassed the $1 billion mark. The second installment did so after 14 days in theaters and the first after 17 days, according to Variety. Both also subsequently surpassed the $2 billion mark.

The big driver of box office for the third installment of the action saga has been audiences outside the United States.

The highest grossing countries for the film were China – $138 million -, France – $81 million -, Germany – $64 million – and Korea – $44 million -.

‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ is the third Disney release of 2025 to surpass $1 billion, following ‘Lilo and Stitch’ and ‘Zootopia 2’.

Box office grosses this weekend in the U.S. remained similar to last weekend, with ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ taking the number one spot, ‘Zootopia 2’ in second place – $19 million – and ‘The Housemaid’ – $14.9 million -, ‘Marty Supreme’ – $12.6 million – and ‘Anaconda’ – $10 million – closing out the top five.

Zootopia 2′ has accumulated a total of $1.588 billion since its release -November 26-, largely boosted by the success of international audiences -$1.224 billion-.

This past weekend it returned to number one at the box office in China, leaving the Avatar saga in second place, where it has grossed $598 million since its release.

The film has become a hit in the country, reported Agencia EFE, where audiences go to the movies with their pets.
