Zoe Saldana tops the list of the highest-grossing actors of all time thanks to the success of ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’, according to the update of this count made by the U.S. website specializing in film box office The Numbers.
Its films have amassed a total of $15.47 billion, taking into account the success of the latest film in the franchise created by Canadian director James Cameron, the publication revealed Tuesday.
The Dominican-born American actress has starred in the three highest-grossing films in history: ‘Avatar’ (2009), ranked No. 1; ‘Avengers Endgame’ (2019) at No. 2; and ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’.
The box-office success of Saldaña, who won her first Oscar in 2025 for ‘Emilia Perez’, is also due to her participation in ‘Guardians of Galaxy’, in her character as Gamora, as well as the role of Nyota Uhura in a trilogy of the Star Trek franchise.
According to Variety, Saldana is also the first actress to appear in four films that have grossed more than $2 billion worldwide.
In 2024, Saldana was third on this list, only surpassed by Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson, but the success of the latest Avatar film, which this week surpassed $1.23 billion in grosses, helped put her at number one, reported Agencia EFE.
