Stylist and television host Jomari Goyso expressed his dismay and grief at the tragic death of Dominican singer Rubby Perez, which occurred during the collapse of the roof of the Jet Set nightclub in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
On his official Instagram account, Goyso shared an emotional message with a broken heart, in which he mourned both the loss of the artist and the other victims of the tragedy.

“What a great sadness! So many dead in an event that was for celebration,” began Jomari’s message through his Instagram account.
The Univision host sent his condolences: “To all the people who have lost a loved one, I am so sorry!
“Merengue also loses a legend,” wrote Joyso referring to the death of Rubby Perez.
“Recently, at Premios Soberano, the entire theater stood up to applaud his art and trajectory,” explained Jomari Goyso about the video with which he accompanied his message.
“May all the souls who lost their lives last night be at peace!” was the Spanish presenter’s final plea.
What happened at the Jet Set nightclub?

In the early morning of Tuesday, April 8, the roof of the iconic Jet Set nightclub collapsed during a performance by merenguero Rubby Pérez, killing at least 66 people and injuring more than 160, according to official data from the Dominican Republic’s Emergency Operations Center (COE).
Among the deceased are also public figures such as Octavio Dotel and Tony Blanco, former Major League Baseball players, and Nelsy Cruz, governor of Monte Cristi and sister of baseball player Nelson Cruz.
Rubby Pérez: a merengue legend

Rubby Pérez, 69, was one of the most beloved and emblematic artists of Dominican merengue.
He began his career in Wilfrido Vargas’ orchestra and then consolidated his career as a soloist with hits such as “Volveré” and “Buscando tus besos”.
His last major public appearance was at the Soberano 2025 Awards, where he was honored with a standing ovation.
Jomari Goyso shared the video of that presentation, since the Spaniard attended the ceremony and witnessed the love that his people had for Rubby Perez.

“I have you in my prayers! To all those affected, family and friends of those injured or deceased in the catastrophe that happened last night at the Jet Set nightclub in SD at the concert of the great Merenguero Rubby Perez,” he wrote in his publication accompanied by another video of the presentation at Premios Soberano.
A country in mourning and a call for justice
President Luis Abinader declared three days of national mourning.
Investigations into the collapse of the structure continue, and authorities promised justice for the victims.
Meanwhile, the international community, artists and celebrities continue to send messages of support to the affected families and the Dominican people.
