In 2025, Club Deportivo Guadalajara, better known as Chivas, surprised fans by registering three youngsters in its basic forces with names that bear the names of world soccer stars.

Although they are not the real legends, the newcomers have gone viral for sharing an identity with Zinedine Zidane, Robinho and Cristiano Ronaldo. These three players born between 2006 and 2008 are ready to make their own mark on the red and white youth academy.

18-year-old Zinedine Sidane Hernández Quezada, a native of Guadalajara, plays left back for Tapatío, a subsidiary in the Liga de Expansión MX.

He made his debut in 2024 against Mineros de Zacatecas and played 27 games in U-19 and U-23 categories last season.

Nicknamed “The Magician”, his name – with an ‘S’ instead of a ‘Z’ – honors the legendary Zinedine Zidane, reflecting his family’s passion for soccer.

He was invited to the preseason with the Chivas first team under coach Gabriel Milito.

Sidane represents a serious commitment to the red and white youth.

In goal, Ángel Robinho Romero Quintero, born in Guadalajara and registered in the Chivas U-19 team, stands out.

At 18 years of age, he has grown up in the same institution since U-13 and participated in the Champion of Champions title of the MX Expansion League with Tapatio.

Although he shares a name with Brazilian star Robinho, he is forging his own path under the three posts.

Just 16 years old and a Mexican citizen, Cristiano Ronaldo Rojas Vidal was born in New York in December 2008.

He is part of Chivas’ U-17 team and has also stood out for his skill and vision.

Although his Portuguese counterpart is a phenomenon, this young man from Guadalajara is already generating buzz on social networks as “CR300”, a nickname that is circulating among fans and digital journalists.

What’s next for these red-and-white talents?

Although they have yet to make their first-team debuts, the three players are part of the process of renewing the youth academy and complying with regulations that promote the use of local talent.

Chivas is betting on flashy names, yes, but also on real technical development.

Sidane, Robinho and Cristiano Ronaldo Rojas Vidal could have their chance this season.

Mexican fans are dreaming, with restraint, of the moment when these players cease to be nameable curiosities and become true references for the club.
