The United States government announced a historic $50 million reward for information leading to the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. Attorney General Pam Bondi confirmed the measure on Thursday, August 7, 2025, calling the president one of the world’s most dangerous drug traffickers and a direct threat to U.S. national security.
Bondi detailed that the decision to double the previous $25 million reward — in effect since January 2025 — responds to a renewed effort to dismantle transnational criminal organizations linked to the Venezuelan regime. Among them he mentioned the Sinaloa Cartel and the Cartel of the Suns, with which Maduro allegedly collaborates to bring lethal drugs and violence into U.S. territory: “Maduro will not escape justice and will be held accountable for his heinous crimes” (WATCH VIDEO HERE).
Background and current accusations

Maduro was formally indicted in March 2020, during Donald Trump’s presidency, for drug trafficking offenses.
As well as conspiracy to commit narco-terrorism and use of firearms in felonies.
Since then, investigations by federal agencies have linked him to massive cocaine shipments and money laundering operations spanning Latin America, the Caribbean and the US.
