A video circulating massively on social networks such as Facebook, Instagram and TikTok shows at least two men – identified by some users as Puerto Ricans – insulting and reprimanding a person who, according to the recording, would be Mexican and “has no papers”.

The clip, captured from inside a vehicle in what appears to be a store parking lot in the United States, contains xenophobic insults and phrases such as “that’s you, pigs and rats, start again pa’ Mexico” and “you have nothing to do here”, while the person recording tries to resist getting out of the car.

The video does not allow confirmation of the identity, nationality or immigration status of the persons involved.

There is also no public information linking authorities or institutions to what happened.

Therefore, reports are limited to what can be seen in the recording and to testimonies shared by users on social networks.

The video has been widely shared by influencers, such as the popular Carlos Espina on his social networks.

The video begins with the alleged Puerto Rican telling the alleged Mexican: “That’s how you are, pigs and rats, start again pa’ Mexico c&br$n, move c&br$n, you have nothing to do here”.

To which the Mexican replies “I don’t want to” and the other insists: “Move, move”.

At one point, the Mexican asks “why don’t you move?”, to which the Puerto Rican replies: “Because I am a resident”.

Why these types of videos are of concern

The clip comes at a time of strong polarization over migration in U.S. politics.

Since taking office in January 2025, the federal administration has promoted numerous changes and executive orders tightening immigration controls, according to public records of measures announced earlier this year.

This agenda has fueled discussions and, in some cases, an atmosphere of tension towards migrants.

Although the material is viral, experts and civil organizations warn that episodes of abuse and discrimination can escalate if they are not reported and if the community does not have practical information to act.

What can you do if you are a witness or victim?

Prioritize your safety. If the situation is dangerous, walk away and call 911.

Preserves evidence. Save the original video, time, place and names or descriptions of witnesses. Record license plates, times and any other data you can.

Report the incident to the local police. Make a formal complaint as soon as possible: this is the first step to document the incident.

Report possible hate crimes. In addition to local reporting, follow up with a report to the Department of Justice and the FBI; the DOJ and FBI tell how to do this and offer online lines and forms (tips.fbi.gov and 1-800-CALL-FBI). The DOJ website explains the steps and resources available to victims.

Seek legal and community support. Organizations such as the ACLU and legal aid centers for immigrants provide free guidance and can help protect rights and file complaints.

If you are undocumented: basic rights to consider

You have the right not to answer questions about your status before the police and to ask for a lawyer.

Remain calm and seek legal assistance before signing or agreeing to any statement (seek an immigration attorney or a local support organization).

Such recordings can be valuable evidence, but they can also go viral without context.

If you were a witness or victim, document what happened and use the resources listed.

Reporting helps build statistics, trigger investigations and protect neighbors and Latino families who may be at risk.

Así son ustedes, puercos y ratas, arranca otra vez pa' México c&br$n, muévase c&br$n, usted no tiene nada qué hacer aquí
