Stella del Carmen, daughter of Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith, married economist Alex Gruszynski this Saturday at the five-star Abadía Retuerta LeDomaine hotel, a former 12th century monastery located in Sardón de Duero (Spain), in front of some 250 guests with many well-known Hollywood faces.
Accompanied by her parents, Stella del Carmen, 29, and Alex Gruszynski, who is linked to the film industry and whom she has known since her childhood school days, they tied the knot in front of guests including actor Don Johnson, Melanie Grifitth’s first husband, and their daughter, Dakota Johnson.
Antonio Banderas’ toast to the press
Antonio Banderas, emotional after his daughter Stella del Carmen’s wedding: “It was very nice, very exciting”. In addition, according to Hola magazine, the daughters of former U.S. President Barack Obama, Malia and Sasha, also attended the wedding, as well as Sting’s wife, Trudie Styler.
After the ceremony, Antonio Banderas came out to the door of the estate and, visibly moved, attended to the numerous media covering the event.
Banderas highlighted the family and emotional atmosphere of the ceremony, as well as the joy of seeing his daughter get married: there were “tears” because his daughter and son-in-law have known each other for 25 years.
There were no nerves, just elegance, and a toast with the press, before food was distributed by the bride and groom to the journalists.

Hermeticism and privacy prevailed at all times in the organization and development of the wedding, despite the enormous expectation raised from early in the morning with media professionals, onlookers and fans at the entrance gate to the hotel complex.
Guests drove into the resort, whose management increased security and hotel workers were not allowed to use cell phones.
The hotel also has a heliport, which served as access for some of the approximately 250 guests.
The Banderas-Griffith family occupied almost all of the thirty rooms of this complex of maximum exclusivity, so the rest of the guests stayed in establishments in the area as the old monastery of Santa Maria, a few kilometers away, where this past Friday already held a ‘pre-wedding’ in this thermal resort.
More than a hundred workers, including drivers, waiters, assistants and installers, had to sign confidentiality agreements.
Antonio Banderas arrived in Valladolid, the nearest airport, on a private flight last Wednesday to oversee and finalize all the details of the family event.
Wedding of Antonio Banderas’ daughter
In the face of these limitations, some curious onlookers used humor, such as a group of friends who unfurled a banner that read “Americanos, os recibimos con alegría,” a reference to the Spanish Luis García Berlanga film ‘Bienvenido Mr. Marshall’ (1953).
A man was intercepted by hotel security as he tried to deliver a letter to Antonio Banderas and a family came for their daughter to try to see Dakota Johnson, of whom she is a self-confessed fan.
In the midst of great security measures, private inside the hotel and public in the surroundings and accesses, the wedding was held in a hotel complex, Abadía Retuerta LeDomaine, which essentially recalls the primitive monastic site of the twelfth century.
The estate consists of several hectares of vineyards, thermal treatments, a Michelin-starred restaurant, Refectorio, and luxury accommodations in a former premonstratensian monastery.
The crossbow curve (‘rivula torta’) described by the Duero River in its vicinity inspired the monks to give the name Retuerta, which is still preserved in this place.
