Colombian singers Manuel Turizo and Maluma released this Friday the single ‘Apambichao’, a musical proposal that “celebrates the essence of the Colombian Caribbean through a sound connected to the tradition and evolution of contemporary Latin music”.

“‘Apambichao’ takes its name from a slower, more rhythmic variant of Dominican merengue known as pambiche, characterized by an intimate and enveloping rhythm that is danced in close proximity, evoking connection, complicity and romanticism,” Turizo’s team said in a statement.

Turizo, a native of Montería, a municipality in the Caribbean department of Córdoba, along with Maluma, who was born in Medellín (west), transform Colombia into the heart of their project with a video that shows the streets, the people and the colors that illustrate “the daily energy that defines the country”.

“Culture, movement and urban essence turn each scene into a living celebration of Colombia, performed by two of its most influential exponents in Spanish-language music,” the information added.

Maluma won a Latin Grammy for Best Contemporary Pop Vocal Album in 2018 with ‘F.A.M.E’ and Turizo has been nominated for that award twice with ‘Pa’ olvidarte Remix’, Agencia EFE reported.
