Bad Bunny and J Balvin seal the peace in Mexico

Message of Latin unity

The closing of Bad Bunny’s Debí Tirar Más Fotos World Tour in Mexico left one of the most emotional scenes of the year for Latin music. During the eighth and final concert, held on December 21 at the GNP Seguros Stadium in Mexico City, J Balvin appeared as a surprise guest, publicly marking the reconciliation between two of reggaeton’s most influential artists.

In front of 66,000 attendees, both artists shared words of respect, apology and mutual admiration, putting to rest any past differences. J Balvin highlighted Bad Bunny’s global impact and his role as a representative of Latin culture around the world, while the Puerto Rican artist responded with humility and affection, confirming that the two had spoken weeks ago and were waiting for “the perfect moment” to meet again on stage.

The moment was sealed with an extended embrace and a joint rendition of “La canción” and “Qué pretendes”.

They are tracks that are included in their collaborative album Oasis (2019).

The list continued with hits such as “Si tu novio te deja sola” and “I Like It”, a song recorded with Cardi B.

This performance marked the first time Bad Bunny and J Balvin have sung together since 2021, when they coincided in a concert in Puerto Rico.

The public estrangement between the two began in 2022, in the midst of a controversy related to the Latin Grammy Awards.

As well as discussions on the recognition of reggaeton within the music industry.

The reconciliation was immediately celebrated on social networks.

Both artists became trending and generated thousands of messages of support, memes and positive reactions.

For the Latino community in the United States, the moment was seen as a message of maturity, unity and cultural representation.

During the last night in Mexico City, Bad Bunny also had the participation of Natanael Cano, who performed with him “Soy el Diablo Remix” from the alternate stage known as La Casita.

Throughout the residency, the Puerto Rican added guests such as Feid, Grupo Frontera and Julieta Venegas.
