The Bogota band Morat and singer Carlos Vives added color this Monday to the farewell match of the Colombian national team, which faces Costa Rica at the El Campín stadium in the country’s capital, on a day in which fans wished the best to the team that will represent them in the 2026 World Cup.

Tens of thousands of people arrived at Bogota’s main sports venue wearing the tricolor jersey, many of them with the ’10’ of James Rodriguez and others with the ‘7’ of Luis Diaz, the two big stars the fans wanted to see on the field.

Outside the venue, street sales of jerseys and music related to the team gave warmth to the cold Bogota afternoon, where the public was visibly excited to have a national team match again after seven years, since the last time was a friendly against Panama, which ended 3-0, prior to the 2019 Copa America.

From early on, fans of the national team hung banners with messages such as ‘Yellow Fever’ and ‘Let’s live soccer in peace’, as well as with the names of cities such as Cúcuta, Tunja, Neiva and Medellín, from where they traveled to wish the best to the team coached by Argentinean Néstor Lorenzo.

The musical spectacle began with a show by Colombian singer Juan Palau, who performed reggaeton classics, and continued with a performance by Morat, who enlivened the mood of the crowd that accompanied their presentation with applause.

The band started their short show performing ‘Llamada Perdida’ and followed with ‘Me toca a mí’, where they surprised the audience because the Colombian singer Camilo jumped on stage to sing with them this 2025 hit.

The band members, each dressed in a different Colombian national team jersey, closed their show with ‘Besos en guerra’, one of their most popular songs that got many of the audience out of their seats.

Morat said goodbye to the stage with fireworks and flames that shot out from various parts of the stadium, which was still filled with excited fans who hope that the Colombian national team will give them some joy before the World Cup, in which Colombia shares Group K with Portugal, Democratic Republic of Congo and Uzbekistan.

Then it was the turn of Carlos Vives, who took the stage to accompany a batucada that performed the new “barras incondicionales”, a series of official songs inspired by songs of the artist from the Caribbean city of Santa Marta and adapted to the atmosphere of the fans.

Vives’ first songs, adapted with the collaboration of the Colombian fans known as La Fiebre Amarilla, were ‘Fruta Fresca’, whose title was changed to ‘Sí, sí, sí’, ‘La tierra del olvido’, changed to ‘Yo te aliento’ and ‘Ahí llego yo (Pa’ Mayte)’, turned into ‘Qué linda es’, reported Agencia EFE.
